The café at the Norwegian Museum of Horticulture serves the best waffles in town. Many have asked for the recipe, and we are happy share the secret of the waffle as well as the Svele - a delicious pancake from Sunnmøre.
Waffles are served with sour cream and strawberry jam. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water, ice cream and locally made apple juice from Puntervold are also available.
Melt 200 gr of margarine.
Mix 12 eggs and 5 dl sugar, and beat well.
Add 2 l cultured milk and 2 l full-fat milk.
Mix 3 tsp baking powder and 3 tsp cardamom with some wheat flour, and add to the batter together with some more wheat flour and melted margarine.
Brush the waffle iron with melted margarine or spray with oil.
Mix 4 eggs and 3.5 dl sugar, and beat well.
Add 1 l cultured milk.
Mix 2 tsp baking soda and 1 small tsp salt of hartshorn with some wheat flour, and add to the batter together with more wheat flour - the batter should be thick.
Brush the griddle with oil, not margarine.
