Grimstad bys museer offers town walks, park visits, guided museum tours and talks for groups. Group programs are available all year round.

A minimum of 10 people is required, and bookings must be made through Grimstad Tourist Office on telephone + 47 37 25 01 68 or e-mail: turistkontoret [at] grimstad.kommune.no. Web: www.visitgrimstad.com.  

Grimstad bys museer is licensed to sell beer and wine at private functions held at our museum venues. This can be booked as part of the group programs.

Themed park visit: HORTICULTURE

Grimstad has long had a climate favourable for fruit, berry and vegetable cultivation/production.  In its beautiful location at Dømmesmoen, the Norwegian Museum of Horticulture provides an insight into some of Grimstad's horticultural history.

The walk leads through parts of the stunning garden complex at Dømmesmoen with its roses, pond, oak tree, old school building, perennials and Ibsen's herb garden. After a presentation inside the museum, and the group members will have time to explore the collections on their own. Included are exhibitions on Fuhr's wine production in Grimstad, the town's canned food industry and the ecological interaction of bees and flowers.

Coffee and waffles can be ordered as part of the package. The park terrain is varied and requires standard mobility. Not suitable for wheelchair users. Once inside the museum, everything is at one level and is accessible to all.

Themed park visit: EDIBLE FLOWERS AND PLANTS

Grimstad has long had a climate favourable for fruit, berry and vegetable cultivation/production.  In its beautiful location at Dømmesmoen, the Norwegian Museum of Horticulture provides an insight into some of Grimstad's horticultural history.

The walk leads through parts of the beautiful garden complex at Dømmesmoen, and focus is on the edible. Afterwards, there is a slide show inside the museum where the group is shown other edible flowers and plants and tips on how these can be used in cooking.

Available from the end of May until the autumn, depending on blossom period. The park terrain is varied and requires standard mobility. Not suitable for wheelchair users. Once inside the museum, everything is at one level and is accessible to all.

The Norwegian Museum of Horticulture - guided tour

Grimstad has long had a climate favourable for fruit, berry and vegetable cultivation/production.  In its beautiful location at Dømmesmoen, the Norwegian Museum of Horticulture provides an insight into some of Grimstad's horticultural history. Dømmesmoen boasts a long history, and is an exciting area with burial mounds, excellent hiking opportunities and a beautiful park.

Participants will be given a talk on Dømmesmoen and the Norwegian Museum of Horticulture, and afterwards they will have time to explore the collections on their own. Included are exhibitions on Fuhr's wine production in Grimstad, the town's canned food industry and the ecological interaction of bees and flowers.

Waffles and coffee, a glass of wine or beer, or apple juice from Puntervold can be included as part of the package. Once inside the Norwegian Museum of Horticulture, everything is on one level and is accessible to all.
