Unique opportunity to experience the writer's cottage used by Hamsun
Knut Hamsun moved to Nørholm manor farm on the outskirts of Grimstad in 1918. Once settled, he turned one of its crofts into a place in which to work. In order for Hamsun as an author to create characters and build narratives, he needed absolute peace and quiet. This he found in his writer’s cottage. During the guided tour, you will learn about Hamsun’s use of this creative space and about his vast library.
The tour starts and ends in Grimstad town centre, and all participants are obliged to travel to Nørholm by the coach provided. There is a short walk from the parking to Hamsun’s Dikterstue, and the building is reached via stairs without railings. The group will be seated during the talk.
